Description

A Caucasian Dagger "KAMA" with scabbard, Silver and Niello, Russian Empire, Stamped "84", circa 1900. This elegant Caucasian kama dagger, dating to circa 1900, stands as a distinguished artifact of the late Russian Imperial era, showing the exceptional metalworking craftsmanship of regional silversmiths. The weapon is characterized by its broad, double-edged steel blade featuring deep, fullers designed for both structural balance and aesthetic symmetry. The hilt is meticulously carved from dark natural horn and is secured by traditional silver rivets terminating in raised bosses decorated with intricate niello work. Encased in a black leather scabbard, the piece is further elevated by its ornate silver mounts, decorate with scrolling foliate and floral patterns against a stippled ground. Notable for its authenticity, the silver fittings bear the Imperial "84" hallmark alongside the mark of a skilled regional maker. Measuring approximately 57 cm in total length when sheathed, this kama represents the refined martial heritage and high-status ornamentation favored by the Caucasian military elite and nobility. The item is in good condition.
