A Cased Belgian percussion Comblain's system Revolver and Gaming Set by Henri Mangeot, Brussels, mid-19th Century. This exceptional mid-19th-century cased set represents a unique convergence of mechanical precision and aristocratic leisure, featuring a percussion revolver by the esteemed Brussels gunsmith Henri Mangeot. As "Gunsmith to His Majesty the King of the Netherlands", Mangeot was celebrated for his superior craftsmanship, a reputation evidenced here by the revolver’s finely engraved frame with delicate foliate scrolls, an octagonal barrel, and a well-checkered walnut grip. The weapon is housed within a multi-tiered oak case, the lid of which is inset with a brass medallion engraved with a coronet and cypher, and secured by a high-quality lock by the renowned London maker Joseph Bramah of 124 Piccadilly. The upper red velvet-lined tray contains a full complement of accessories, including a copper powder flask, steel bullet mold, nipple wrench, cleaning rod, and ebony-handled tools, while the lower compartment reveals a comprehensive period gaming suite. This secondary set includes two decks of antique playing cards and an extensive collection of vibrant red, yellow, and green bone jetons of various geometric shapes, all accompanied by a detailed trade label on the interior lid noting Mangeot’s professional accolades and his 1854 Medal of Honor. The oak case measures approximately 37 x 22 x 9 cm. The item is in excellent condition.
