Description
A Brazilian Model 1908 Mauser Bayonet with Original Scabbard. This exceptional example of a Brazilian Model 1908 Mauser bayonet represents the high-precision German manufacturing contracted for the Brazilian military during the early 20th century. The specimen features a straight, single-edged polished steel blade equipped with a deep longitudinal fuller to ensure structural integrity and balance. The hilt is expertly fitted with contoured walnut grip scales secured by two steel rivets, leading to a polished steel bird's-head pommel with a functional attachment slot. The crossguard is distinguished by its muzzle ring and an elegant, recurved hooked quillon, a hallmark of this specific model's design. The accompanying scabbard is composed of robust black leather with blued steel fittings at the throat and chape, the latter terminating in a protective ball finial. Notable markings include the stamped serial number "2995 E" on the scabbard throat. The bayonet measures approximately 54 centimeters in total length, serving as a significant artifact of the historic arms trade between Solingen and South America. The item is in good condition.
