Description
A Belgian 7mm Double-Action Pinfire Pocket Revolver, carved handle, Circa 1870. This elegant mid-to-late nineteenth-century Belgian pocket revolver, manufactured circa 1870, is a fine example of the double-action pinfire systems popularized in the famed Liège gun-making district. Chambered for the now-obsolete 7mm pinfire cartridge, the firearm features a 8 cm octagonal steel barrel with an integrated front sight and a smooth six-shot cylinder. The cylinder is clearly marked with the "ELG" star-in-oval proof mark, certifying its Belgian origin and quality manufacture during the Victorian era. Designed for discreet civilian carry, the revolver incorporates a folding "drop-away" trigger mechanism that minimizes the profile for pocket concealment, alongside a side-mounted ejector rod for the removal of spent casings. The hilt is fitted with highly decorative carved grips featuring intricate relief-carved floral and foliate motifs, which remain crisp and are secured by a central brass screw. With an overall length of approximately 20cm, this specimen represents a classic personal defense sidearm of the period, reflecting both the functional engineering and the aesthetic sensitivities of nineteenth-century European firearms. The item is in good condition.
